When To Go

India has a varied seasonal and geographical climate. Generally, the north of India is cooler, the centre of the country is hot and dry, and the south enjoys a tropical climate. Determining the best time to travel largely depends on the areas you’re interested in visiting and the climate there. But in general, the “monsoon” season is in July – Aug. The winter is mostly dry but can get chilly. Spring time is the hottest, often reaching mid 30s and with temperatures peaking in May and June. Most of the country is at its most comfortable in September to March, and for trekking in the Himalayas or trip to Ladakh, the peak time is April to September.
